About
Raremap has been developed in partnership by LifeArc and Rare Disease Research UK as a guide for the rare disease community to aid understanding and provide “one-stop shop” for information on the rare disease research ecosystem in the UK.
Our aims are for the resource to provide high-level information about and signposting to organisations, programmes and networks in the rare disease ecosystem, whilst complementing existing resources and initiatives. Given the scale of the ecosystem, we’re starting with a directory of UK-based organisations and programmes, ensuring we capture the core landscape before expanding.

Rare Disease Research UK
RDR UK was launched in July 2023 and is jointly funded by the Medical Research Council and the National Institute for Health and Care Research. It was established to connect and enhance the UK’s strengths in rare disease research. The platform aims to foster greater collaboration between academic, clinical and industry researchers, patients, research charities and other key organisations in rare disease research to accelerate the understanding, diagnosis and treatment of rare diseases.

LifeArc
LifeArc is a self-funded medical research organisation with one clear purpose – transforming the lives of people living with rare diseases and drug-resistant infections.
We aim to deliver this by conducting and funding pioneering research and working with partners to accelerate the translation of scientific breakthroughs into new tests and treatments.
